Not the classic pre-1977 version But the new re-vamped edition.
Beginning as a retro concept in 2004. The new 500 model was rolled out in 2007, exactly 50 years after the original.
When first released, a meagre 58000 cars we’re produced, which promptly ran out after just 3 weeks.
The name 500 refers to the original cars engine size, 479cc which put out a monster 13bhp (with an eye watering 21bhp in the sports version).
Joking aside it was the original choice for the 1969 film “the Italian Job”, getting dropped at the last minute in favor of the mini.
